Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-10-18

This policy explains what data Odds Observer processes when you use the site. We keep it to the minimum needed to run and improve the service.

What we collect

  • Clicks to bookmakers: the bookmaker, the event, the market and outcome, the price shown, the page you came from and the time. This tells us which comparisons are useful.
  • If you accept cookies: additionally a daily-rotating anonymous visitor hash (derived from your IP address and browser, which we never store in raw form), your country as reported by our CDN, and your device type.
  • If you accept cookies: usage statistics through Google Analytics (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, how you arrived), with its own cookies. Without your consent Google Analytics is not loaded at all.
  • Your recent searches: the last 5 queries you searched for, so the search box can offer them again. They are kept under a random identifier that your browser creates on your first search (see below), not under your name, IP address or any cookie. You can remove each query, or all of them, from the search box.
  • Searches on the search page (not the suggestions while you type): the query, the number of results, how long the search took to show, your browser, device type, screen and window size, your full IP address and country. This tells us what people look for, what we are missing and how fast search is, and helps us spot abuse.
  • Which search suggestions are chosen: daily totals per event or league, without any identifier, to rank popular results first.
  • Technical logs (request time, path, status, browser type and a shortened IP address with its last part removed) to keep the site secure and working. Logs are kept for 90 days.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional; you need it to keep favourite bookmakers and to connect AI agents (MCP). You sign in with your Google account, and we create an account on your first sign-in. We keep:

  • From Google: your email address, name and profile picture (we never see your Google password).
  • Your account data: when you signed up and last signed in, and your favourite bookmakers.
  • The AI apps you connected to Odds Observer (their name and website, when you connected them and last used them) and the access tokens we issued to them, stored only as one-way hashes.
  • How you use the MCP server: a daily count of requests per tool and app, their errors and duration. We see the requests your AI agent makes to our tools (for example a search for a team), not your conversation with it, and we do not store the requests' content.

We use this data only to run your account and the MCP server, to keep it fair (rate limits, blocking abuse) and to see how it is used. You can disconnect apps and delete your account, with all of this data, on your account page.

What we do not collect

You can use the whole site without an account. Apart from the search statistics above, we do not store full IP addresses. We do not sell data and do not use advertising trackers. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.

Stored in your browser

Your theme, odds format and cookie choice are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them. After your first search, local storage also holds the random identifier of your search history; it is sent only with requests for that history, and clearing the site's data in your browser disconnects you from it. Our server sets no cookies on the public site unless you sign in: then a session cookie (otb.sid) keeps you signed in and a second one (otb.in) tells the page that you are; both are strictly necessary for the account and last 14 days. Your account and favourites are also copied to local storage so pages show them at once. If you accept cookies, Google Analytics sets its own (_ga and _ga_*, kept up to 2 years).

On your first visit we ask whether you accept cookies. If you reject them, Google Analytics is not loaded and clicks are counted without the visitor hash, country and device type. Withdrawing consent removes the Google Analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.

Service providers

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes requests on our behalf. Usage statistics are processed by Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited; data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States), only with your consent, with advertising features and Google signals turned off. Sign-in (to your account and to the administration area) uses Google: Google tells us your email address, name and picture when you sign in.

Retention

Click records are kept for 180 days, then only daily totals remain. Recent searches are deleted 180 days after your last search, search statistics (with IP addresses) after 90 days, daily suggestion totals after 30 days. Technical logs are kept for 90 days. Account data is kept until you delete the account; access tokens expire after an hour (refresh tokens after 30 days unused), and MCP usage counts are kept for one year. Google Analytics keeps event data for 2 months.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask for access to, correction or deletion of data about you, or object to its processing. If you have an account you can see your data and delete it yourself on your account page. For data not tied to an account we may need details (such as the time of a click) to find it. Write to info@odds.observer. You may also complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change; the date at the top shows the current one.
