# Use Odds Observer in AI agents (MCP)

_Last updated 18 October 2026._

Odds Observer runs a remote MCP server (Model Context Protocol), so an AI agent can look up odds for you: find a match, compare every bookmaker's prices, see the best price per outcome, the payout and the fair odds, and check how bookmakers compare over time. It reads the same data as this site and changes nothing.

Server URL:

```
https://odds.observer/mcp
```

## Before you start

- You need a Google account. When your agent connects for the first time, it opens the Odds Observer sign-in page, where you sign in with Google and allow access. An account is created for you on the first sign-in.
- The connection is free and read-only. Your [favourite bookmakers](https://odds.observer/account) come first in the agent's answers too.
- You can see and disconnect the apps you connected on [your account page](https://odds.observer/account) at any time.

## What the agent can do

- `search`: find events and leagues by team, player or league name.
- `list_events`: events with their best prices, live or by day, for a sport, country or league.
- `get_event`: every bookmaker's prices for one event (result, totals, handicaps), the best price per outcome, payout, margins, recent price moves, fair odds and links to the bookmakers.
- `list_sports` and `list_leagues`: what is covered right now.
- `list_bookmakers` and `get_bookmaker`: coverage, share of best prices, margin and uptime by period and sport.

Ask things like: "What are the best odds for Arsenal tonight?", "Which bookmaker pays most on the over 2.5 in the Real Madrid game?", "Live tennis matches where Pinnacle is not the best price" or "Which bookmaker had the lowest margin on football this week?"

## Claude

### Claude on the web, desktop and mobile

1. Open Claude, go to Customize → Connectors and choose Add custom connector. (On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom; members then press Connect.)
2. Name it "Odds Observer", leave the OAuth fields empty and enter the server URL:

   ```
   https://odds.observer/mcp
   ```

3. Choose Add, then Connect: the Odds Observer sign-in page opens. Sign in with Google and press Allow.
4. In a chat, make sure the connector is switched on in the tools menu and ask about odds.

A free Claude plan can have one custom connector. Connectors added on the web are also available in the desktop and mobile apps.

### Claude Code

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http odds-observer https://odds.observer/mcp
```

Then run `/mcp` in Claude Code, pick odds-observer and choose Authenticate (or run `claude mcp login odds-observer`). Your browser opens the sign-in page.

## ChatGPT

1. On chatgpt.com, open [chatgpt.com/plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins), press + and choose Add custom MCP server. Custom servers are added on the web; your plan or workspace admin must allow them.
2. Enter the name "Odds Observer", pick OAuth as the authentication and enter the server URL:

   ```
   https://odds.observer/mcp
   ```

3. Confirm the warning, create it, and sign in with Google on the Odds Observer page that opens; press Allow.
4. In a chat, type @ and pick Odds Observer, then ask about odds.

## Gemini

### Gemini CLI

```bash
gemini mcp add --transport http odds-observer https://odds.observer/mcp
```

Or add it to `~/.gemini/settings.json` (note `httpUrl`, not `url`):

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "odds-observer": { "httpUrl": "https://odds.observer/mcp" }
  }
}
```

Start Gemini CLI and run `/mcp auth odds-observer`; sign in in the browser window that opens. The sign-in needs a browser on the same machine (not over SSH or in a container).

### Gemini app and Gemini Enterprise

The Gemini app at gemini.google.com does not let personal accounts add their own MCP servers yet; use Gemini CLI. Gemini Enterprise needs a client ID created for your team: write to [info@odds.observer](mailto:info@odds.observer).

## Grok

1. On grok.com, open Connectors and choose New connector → Custom (available on paid plans that offer custom connectors).
2. Enter the server URL and save:

   ```
   https://odds.observer/mcp
   ```

3. When Grok asks you to connect, sign in with Google on the Odds Observer page and press Allow.

If your Grok plan has no custom connectors, or it asks for a client ID, write to [info@odds.observer](mailto:info@odds.observer). The xAI API's remote MCP tool needs a fixed token, which this server does not issue: access always goes through your Google sign-in.

## Cursor

Add the server to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (all projects) or `.cursor/mcp.json` in a project:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "odds-observer": { "url": "https://odds.observer/mcp" }
  }
}
```

Open Cursor's MCP settings, find odds-observer and press Connect (or Needs login); sign in with Google in the browser and press Allow. The tools then appear in Agent mode.

## Other MCP clients

Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in works. Give it the server URL:

```
https://odds.observer/mcp
```

The server announces its sign-in through the standard discovery documents (OAuth protected resource metadata, client ID metadata documents and dynamic client registration, PKCE). MCP protocol revisions 2025-03-26 to 2026-07-28 are supported.

## Troubleshooting

- The sign-in window does not open: allow pop-ups for your AI app, or start the connection again from its connector settings.
- "Wrong return address" or "Unknown app": the app sent a request Odds Observer cannot accept. Remove the connector and add it again.
- The agent says it is not authorised after working before: the access was disconnected on your account page or has expired. Connect again from the agent.
- "Rate limit": the agent asked too often in a short time. It can retry after a few seconds.
- Odds look old: every answer carries `as_of`, the time the data was built. Prices change quickly; check them on the bookmaker's site before betting.

## Privacy and fair use

We keep your Google email, name and picture, your favourite bookmakers, the apps you connected and a daily count of requests per tool for one year; the content of your conversations never reaches us, only the tool requests your agent makes. See the [Privacy Policy](https://odds.observer/privacy) and the [Terms](https://odds.observer/terms). Betting is for adults (18+) only.
